Testing
The Woodcock-Johnson III Tests of Achievement fulfills all Ohio home-schooling test requirements as a nationally normed, standardized test. Because the test is largely verbal, with limited writing requirements, your child will not be "filling in the bubbles." While the W-J III is an untimed test, most kids require about 90 minutes to complete it. While most others test only a year below or above the reported grade level, the W-J III meets the child at their actual achievement level, wherever that may be.
In most cases I will generate scores for you and provide you with a consultation regarding your child’s test results immediately following testing. In all cases, you will be provided with written test results within 10 business days. The scores will include raw score, grade equivalent, instructional zone, relative proficiency index, percentile ranking & confidence band, and age equivalent for each subject area tested.
In language arts, I test your child’s basic reading skills, spelling, passage comprehension, and editing skills. In math, I test calculation and problem solving. I also test general academic knowledge which includes science, social studies, art, music and literature.
