Welcome to DanaRamsey.com!

Are you looking for professional educational testing, teaching and tutoring combined with the warmth and understanding that a seasoned home schooling mom can bring?

Based in Columbus, Ohio, I offer academic testing using the nationally normed and standardized Woodcock-Johnson III Tests of Achievement.  Additionally, private mathematics tutoring and enrichment, as well as small group hands-on math classes, are available in a relaxed, pressure-free environment.

In addition to being a duly authorized W-J III Achievement Test administrator with hundreds of individual tests given to kids of all ages, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics and Teaching of Mathematics grades 6 - 12.  My ongoing professional development--designed to keep my skills cutting edge--includes coursework in teaching the elementary aged child, problem based approaches, using manipulatives for the kinesthetic and concrete learners, and holistic approaches such as teaching math through art.   I have more than a decade of teaching and tutoring experience in individual and institutional, public and private settings with all ages pre-K through grade 12.  Moreover, I've taught my own three kids since their birth.  I can relate to you as a parent and to your child, coming alongside your family to help you achieve the goals you've set forth for your kids.

HERE are what some of my satisfied clients have had to say.  I look forward to you becoming one of them!

Warmly,
Dana Ramsey

Testing

The Woodcock-Johnson III Tests of Achievement fulfills all Ohio home-schooling test requirements as a nationally normed, standardized test. Because the test is largely verbal, with limited writing requirements, your child will not be "filling in the bubbles."  While the W-J III is an untimed test, most kids require about 90 minutes to complete it. While most others test only a year below or above the reported grade level, the W-J III meets the child at their actual achievement level, wherever that may be.
In most cases I will generate scores for you and provide you with a consultation regarding your child’s test results immediately following testing. In all cases, you will be provided with written test results within 10 business days.  The scores will include raw score, grade equivalent, instructional zone, relative proficiency index, percentile ranking & confidence band, and age equivalent for each subject area tested.
In language arts, I test your child’s basic reading skills, spelling, passage comprehension, and editing skills. In math, I test calculation and problem solving. I also test general academic knowledge which includes science, social studies, art, music and literature.

Fees

For testing in the Columbus, Ohio area the test fee for one child is $75. If you schedule two children the fee is $65 per child, and for three or more children the fee is $55 per child. The children do not need to be siblings - you can combine with your friends to qualify for the discount as long as the bookings are scheduled together in back-to-back time slots. Regardless of how many children you schedule, each child will receive one-on-one test administration in a relaxed, non-clinical environment.

Testing outside the Columbus, Ohio area is charged at $75 per test.

If you have a specific concern about your child’s math or reading achievement and would like additional testing, the fee is $10 per additional test. Please note that additional tests must be requested in advance and may require that you schedule two testing sessions. Standardized testing procedure requires that certain additional tests be timed.
